THE HISTORICAL RECORD SEEMS TO SAY THAT MANY JEWS WERE SAVED BY JEWS, AND PERHAPS HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OR EVEN MILLIONS COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED., IF ..... 

IT IS LEGITIMATE TO HAVE  VARIED PERSPECTIVES ON THIS SUBJECT AND THE EVENT'S AUDIENCE AND READERS OF THIS WEB SITE SHOULD DETERMINE "HISTORICAL TRUTH" FOR THEMSELVES (IF THERE IS SUCH A THING AS OBJECTIVE HISTORICAL TRUTH).  

ULTIMATELY "TRUTH" IS ONLY THE INDIVIDUAL'S WHO PERIODICALLY HAS SOME DOUBTS, AND SEEKS TRUTH, EVEN IF FINDING IT REQUIRES A STRUGGLE. It is proposed to hold a "Rescuer Day" on or right after the date of Raoul Wallenberg’s abduction by the Soviet Union in Hungary - on January 17, 1945. An annual Rescuer Day would honor major rescuers during the Holocaust and would provide powerful role models. Long-term strategy would include encouraging schools around the world to hold Rescuer Day events and contests (e.g. papers, art, musical compositions, project proposals, etc.).

Annual Rescuer Day Contest 
(Initial concept)

Students would be motivated to create works about "Beacons in the Dark" in various media.

Students would also be encouraged to propose projects which have a high potential to make our world a better place to live in. Proposed projects would need to have pragmatic focus and be "doable" - if executed with the bravado, super-high motivation, inspired thinking, creativity and risk taking characterizing many of the "maverick" rescuers.

Winning project proposals by individuals or teams would get sufficient "play money" (e.g. $25,000) to run a small proof-of-concept project in a high-energy level "incubator" type framework. A relatively simple framework could work if the bulk of contest administration would be absorbed by school systems, and if an international pool of experts would volunteer time to consult to the winning team(s). Relatively small seed money could empower and energize large numbers of collaborating students world-wide, which could have significant positive impact.

So far there was no attempt to identify source of seed money for this type of venture philanthropy.
